Monday (1/15): No school today. MLK Day.
Tuesday (1/16): Finish reading LOTF and take notes on chapters 11-12 for today. Be ready to discuss the end using your notes (seminar style).
Wednesday (1/17): In class today you will prepare for tomorrow's in-class essay.
Thursday (1/18): You will write your in-class essay today.
Friday (1/19): You will begin a Found Poem on LOTF today.

Monday (1/8): Vocabulary quiz that we missed due to snow day Friday is today. Ch. 8 reading and notes due today. Vocabulary #13 due WEDNESDAY: (pat/path/pas=feeling) apathy, sympathy, empathy, antipathy, dispassionate, impassive, compatible, pathos, passionate. Tonight, read ch. 9 (make sure you read in case there is a quiz...), but you do not need to take notes.
Tuesday (1/9): Ch. 9 reading due. Be ready to discuss in seminar format. Complete vocab. #13 for Wednesday. Read ch. 10 and do notes for Wednesday.
Wednesday (1/10): Vocabulary due today. We will discuss ch. 10 and Sigmund Freud's theories as applied to LOTF today. You must finish the book and notes for Tuesday. Friday will be a work day in class, so you will have the time after the quiz if you need it. If you finish early, try not to give away the ending.
Thursday (1/11): Tonight, study vocab. and the rules from writing guide assigned today in class.
Friday (1/12): Vocabulary and grammar quiz today. Reading day in class. You will finish the book and notes for Tuesday.

Monday (1/1): Happy New Year!
Tuesday (1/2): Welcome back to school. List #12 vocabulary is due Wednesday: (dis/dif= not) dissonance, discrepancy, disdain, dissuade, dismay, disparate, diffident, disparage, disarray. Read to the end of ch. 5 LOTF for today. Take notes for each chapter (short summary and 5 observations each). Tonight, read ch. 6 and take notes.
Wednesday (1/3): Vocabulary due today. Ch. 6 LOTF reading and notes due today.
Thursday (1/4): Study for vocab and grammar quiz. Work on essay corrections (essays returned Tuesday). Read chapter 7, but you do not need to take notes.
Friday (1/5): Vocabulary and grammar quiz today. Ch. 7 reading due today.

Tuesday (12/19): Vocab. due. Response to film due. Finish reading chapter 1 of Lord of the Flies for Wednesday. We will take notes together in class. Be ready to discuss the chapter. Tonight, finish reading ch. 2. Take notes; use the notes we took in class as a model.

Thursday(12/14): Finish essay final copy asap. It is due by Monday (only because I cannot have large assignments due on Fridays...).
Friday (12/15): Finish essay asap and submit it to turnitin.com. Due by Monday at the latest. You must have a PRINTED copy with rough draft and peer edit sheet to turn in.

Thursday (11/30): Answer R&J questions. Decide on sonnet (choice due tomorrow). Begin studying literary terms in packet (test Monday). Study for Friday's vocabulary quiz.
Friday (12/1): Vocab. quiz then work day. Sonnet choice due. Spend period studying lit. terms or working on sonnet analysis and memorization.
Study over the weekend for Monday's test.

Wednesday (11/8): Sonnet draft due today. Answer Act II, sc. 1&2 questions in packet. Final copy of sonnet due Thursday (It must be typed and printed out. Include a proper heading and title!).
Thursday (11/9): Sonnet due today (final copy!). This weekend finish ORB and create your project. It is due (along with the required one-page explication) 11/15.

One set of notes for both chapters together (it is only 20 pages). Monday (10/2): Corrections sheet due today. Compare and Contrast essay draft due today. Share essays aloud (by choice). List #4 vocabulary due Tuesday: (intra=within) intrastate, intracavitary, intracellular, intrafebrile, intracutaneous, intramural, intravenous, intranet, intraocular.
Tuesday (10/3): Vocabulary due. Select essay from folder to revise. You will write a letter to me during class today explaining which you selected and how you plan to make it better. Final copy is due by the end of class Wednesday.
Wednesday (10/4): Finish essay and turn in by the end of the period today. Make sure you include the rough draft and peer edit sheet when you turn it in.
Thursday (10/5): Bring your Outside Reading Book (ORB) to class today. This can be any book of your choice that is content and grade level appropriate. Get approval by me; bring it to class.
Friday (10/6): EARLY RELEASE DAY! Vocabulary quiz today. This weekend, finish the Between Writing and Drawing assignment you began in class today.

Tuesday (9/5): Please bring The Book Thief to class today if you have a copy. Week #1 Vocabulary is due NEXT Tuesday (9/12). In the vocabulary section of your notebook, write the part of speech and definition for each word:
contraindication, contravene, counterclaim, counterintuitive, contraband, contrast, counterfeit, contraceptive, counterculture.
Tonight you should work on your letter to me that you began in class. It is due by FRIDAY, but I would be happy to take it tomorrow if you finish it. Review characters and important plot points to prepare for The Book Thief test. Test is tomorrow.

Thursday (9/7): Bring your book to class today. We will discuss several aspects of the book as you decide what to write about in your analytical essay.
